Adding Wallpaper To A Commercial Space? What To Know

One of the hottest trends right now in interior design is wallpaper. While older generations might have had wallpaper in their houses in the past, the wallpaper that is used today is a lot different.

Modern wallpaper is great because it is easier to have professionally installed, and it comes in a lot more options of patterns and textures. If you have a commercial space like a restaurant or a brick-and-mortar store that you want to add wallpaper to, there are a few things you should know about wallpaper choices before you hit the "purchase" button online.

Vinyl Is Everything

When you think of vinyl, you probably think of tacky vinyl lettering that is used on cars or some storefronts, but in the world of wallpaper, vinyl means something entirely different. Vinyl is great to use in commercial spaces in particular because it's really durable, it can be wiped down, and it can take a fairly good beating. For instance, if you are using vinyl wallpaper in a public restroom, you won't have to worry about small amounts of water causing it to lift up on the edges. Or, if you are going to be using it in a restaurant behind some seating, you won't have to worry too much about people scratching the wallpaper if they were to accidentally back their chair into it.

Dark Can Conceal

Dark paint is unique because it tends to show hand prints, dirt, and other scratches on it. Dark wallpaper is unique because it is actually quite the opposite: it conceals a lot of dust, dirt, and scratches. Although wallpaper with a white or cream background may be appealing, it can get really dirty if it's put in places that get a lot of traffic. When you choose a wallpaper that has a darker background, it's going to hide imperfections and marks a lot easier.

You Should Have It Professionally Installed

Although there are tons of high-quality brands of wallpaper on the market, there are also those that are lower in quality. For instance, peel-and-stick wallpaper may be something you want to put in your kids' room, but putting this type of low-quality wallpaper in a large commercial space is probably not worth it. Splurge on not only the wallpaper that you are using in your space but the installation as well. When you have professional wallpaper professionally hung, you are going to get an end result that is incomparable.
